前提条件:中国研究项目录取. 本课程旨在帮助学生了解中国语言的丰富内涵. 在简要回顾了普通话的历史发展之后, 重点放在掌握方言的基本技能上. 重点是口语形式. 不需要中文背景. 来到中国的学生都有不同程度的普通话流利程度, 所以CSP将学生安排在与他们的熟练程度相对应的汉语班.

本课程介绍中国文化中传统的健康信仰和实践. 目的是帮助学生从另一个角度看待健康和生活，提高他们的文化能力. 通过阅读有关中国健康信仰和一些流行做法的文章，学生能够理解中国的健康做法. 儒学必读资料, Yin/Yang, Five elements, Buddhism, Taoism, and conflicts with western concept of personality; assignments about Chinese practices to promote health.
