分级

Most SPU course are graded according to 的 normal grading system outlined below; however, some courses allow students to select an alternative grade mode, 或只提供可选的P/NC分级. 除非注意到例外情况, normal grading is required for courses that apply to graduate program requirements, 如 硕士学位奖学金标准 和 博士学位奖学金标准.

正常的分级

在正常分级模式下, 的 quality of a student’s performance in a course is recognized by a letter grade, 哪个以点数计算. 年级 points (or quality points) are 的 numerical equivalent of letter grades 和 are assigned for each credit earned according to 的 scale below.

Your grade point average (GPA) is determined by dividing 的 total number of grade points earned during a given period by 的 number of credits for which you were enrolled 和 received a regular grade. 学习如何 计算你的GPA.

Except in cases of clerical error, no instructor may change a grade that he or she has submitted to 司法常务官办公室. A student may not do additional work after 的 quarter ends to improve 的 final grade. 年级 changes may be made no more than one quarter after 的 grade was issued. 看到 学术上诉 for details about 的 process for appealing a course grade.

通过/没有信用的选择
  • A “P”级 in this option must be at least equivalent to a “C” grade (2.0).
  • P/NC不能修6000级和7000级的课程. Exceptions to this policy include: courses in 的 MFA-Creative Writing program, 和 any of 的se courses applied toward dual degree programs; 和 的sis, 论文, 研究, 和 projects courses in any program, at 的 discretion of 的 academic school or department.

审计

With instructor permission, many 6000-level 和 7000-level courses may be audited. 学生定期支付学费来旁听课程. 学生不接受审计课程的学分.

使用i, n, g, hw和w等级

“我”级 (incomplete): Indicates 的 student did not complete 的 work assigned for a course because of absence from school during 的 quarter due to illness or an acceptable emergency. The student must initiate 的 request for 的 “我”级 prior to 的 final examination or last class session. 除非学生无行为能力,否则 未完成等级协议 表格须填妥.

Documentation verifying 的 illness or acceptable emergency (e.g., a note from a medical doctor) may be required by 的 instructor.  A student cannot carry more than 20 credits of incomplete grades without prior approval from 的 registrar.

The instructor is under no obligation to grant 的 request for an “我”级. 然而, 如果老师选择给出“I”的分数, 的 instructor 和 student must formulate a plan for 的 student’s completion of 的 course requirements.

The student may not attend a future class in which she or he is not registered as a means of working toward completion of an “我”级.

A timeline for course completion will be determined by 的 instructor. 然而, 的 student must submit final coursework within one calendar year or 的 “I” becomes an “E.” The student must initiate 的 removal of 的 “我”级 once coursework has been completed. A student who has an "I" grade that has not yet been converted to a final, regular grade may not enroll in a course with 的 same subject code 和 course number.

“N”评级: Used only in specified courses in which a final grade is dependent upon additional work. The "N" grade indicates that work is satisfactory to date but carries with it no credit or final grade until all work is completed. Work must be completed within one calendar year, or 的 "N" becomes permanent. A student's degree will be awarded effective 的 quarter in which all final grades have been assigned, regardless of when a student may have initially registered for a course in which 的 student received an "I" or "N" grade.

“G”评级: Used only in specified courses in which a final grade is dependent upon additional work 并且只适用于批准的6000-7000级课程, 包括实习, 论文, 论文, 和 projects at 的 discretion of 的 graduate program. Work must be completed within three calendar years, or 的 “G” becomes permanent. A student's degree will be awarded effective 的 quarter in which all final grades have been assigned, regardless of when a student may have initially registered for a course in which 的 student received an "I' or "G" grade.

“HW”: The hardship withdrawal is assigned in rare cases by SPU administration after thorough review 和 substantiation of a student’s circumstances. Examples of situations leading to a hardship withdrawal include incapacitating illness or injury, 或者家庭成员的死亡.

“W”: 撤军 with official approval during weeks two through eight will result in a “W” appearing on 的 成绩单. (见 退课.)

A student’s degree will be awarded effective 的 quarter in which 的 final grade for 的 degree is assigned.
